How to set Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In client to open Enterprise Vault Search in a separate web browser or in Outlook window.

Steps to change the behavior of Enterprise Vault Search when launched from Outlook:
 
  1. On the Enterprise Vault server, open the Vault Admin Console (VAC).
  2. Expand the Policies container
  3. Expand the Exchange container
  4. Click on the Desktop container 
  5. In the right hand pane, Right Click on the desktop policy in use, and select Properties
  6. Click on the Advanced tab
  7. In the List settings from: field, select Outlook
  8. Scroll down the list in the window until you see the object called Search behavior
  9. Click the Modify button
  10. Select In Outlook to have EVS launch within Outlook, or select Separate Browser to launch it in a separate browser window when clicked, and Click OK
  11. Click OK on the message saying the change will take effect when the mailboxes are synchronized
  12. Click on the Tasks container in Vault Admin Console (VAC)
  13. In the right hand pane, Right Click on the Exchange Mailbox Archiving task for Exchange server name and select Properties
  14. Click on the Synchronization tab
  15. Select Selected mailboxes, put a check mark in all three boxes on the left, and Click the Synchronize button
  16. On the next screen, Click on List all available mailboxes and Click OK
  17. Click on the Select All button, and Click OK
  18. Click OK when the sync completes, and Click OK to close the Properties dialog
  19. This will force a sync to occur on all mailboxes immediately 
  20. Once the sync completes, have the users close and reopen Outlook for the change to take effect, and test to see if it now behaves correctly 
Note: If just the Synchronize button for all mailboxes is Clicked, the request will be queued until either the Enterprise Vault (EV) server has free cycles to process the request, or when the scheduled sync occurs (generally set to happen at Noon and Midnight)
