Workaround

The following registry keys do not work for items contained in Archive files.

ExcludedFileTypesFromConversion registry key exists to manipulate Enterprise Vault behavior to block certain file types from having their content converted during archiving.  This registry key is located here:

Path: HKLM\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault
String: ExcludedFileTypesFromConversion

By default, this registry key is populated with certain file extensions (such as .BMP and .JPG) as they may be graphic files or other types of well-known content that may not contain suitable content for conversion.

However, if a .BMP, .JPG, or any other file type contained within the exclusion list registry key is located within a file archive (such as a RAR or ZIP), the Enterprise Vault Converter will attempt to decompress the file archive and convert all content within the file archive even if those file types contained within the archive have been added to the excluded files list.

ConvertExcelToText

Enterprise Vault converts Microsoft Excel documents to HTML. If Enterprise Vault performs many such conversions, or if the documents are complex, then you may suffer performance problems. In such cases, you can significantly improve performance by making Enterprise Vault convert the documents to text instead of HTML.

Use ConvertExcelToText to specify whether to convert Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to text or HTML.  When the Excel file is inside an archive file, it will always be converted to HTML.
