Cause

This issue occurs because the PST Collector process counts not only the files in the PST holding folder in a Migrating status, but also any PST marked as Completing or Migration Failed.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, either allow the PST Collection to finish and be marked as Complete or raise the maximum number of PSTs to be migrated at one time.

To increase this number:
  1. Open the Enterprise Vault Administration Console and go to the Tasks container under the Enterprise Vault server.
  2. Right-click on the PST Collector Task and select Properties
  3. Go to the Settings tab and increase the Maximum number of PSTs to be collected in the holding area for migration by this computer:
  4. Click OK twice and restart the task.

Issue/Introduction

When running the PST Collector it is showing the Vault Console as 'Processing', but only a few PSTs are collected at a time or not at all. When compared to the task setting for maximum number PSTs to be migrated at once and the amount of PSTs in the holding folder, there is an observable discrepancy.
The PST Collector logs show following error:
PST Collector Task Report File: <Install_Path>\Enterprise Vault\Reports\PstColTask_<EV_Server_Name>
10/26/2009 1:00:09 PM PST Collector Task started
Configuration Settings
----------------------
10/26/2009 1:00:09 PM The maximum number of PSTs that may be stored in the holding folder has been reached
A DTrace of PstCollectorTask will show the following:
(PstCollectorTask) <CollectorThread:5040> EV-H {PSTLOGFILE.EN_US} The maximum number of PSTs that may be stored in the holding folder has been reached
