Description:

The EnterpriseVault.DirectoryConnection object reported an error. 
 

The error code was 0x800706ba  

Cause

Event ID 8452 shows the hex code of:  0x800706ba  This error translates to RPC server unavailable which indicates a commuication block. 

A common cause for this is when the Windows Firewall is enabled and inbound rules are blocking RPC connections. 

Resolution

1. Create an Inbound Rule for the Windows Firewall to allow incoming RPC connections from the File server

2. Confirm the issue is resolved by restarting the EV Placeholder Service on the File server.  Event ID 20456 should no longer be logged.  Event ID 20547 will be logged as an informational message showing the cache has been updated.

 

 

Issue/Introduction

During the File Placeholder service restart, an attempt to update the Delete on Delete cache is requested from the Enterprise Vault (EV) server. When there is a communication issue between the two servers, the following two Events will appear in the logs.
