A DTrace of the StorageManagement process will show:

EV:L {CStorageManage::ValidatePartitionRootPathFile} (Entry)
EV:H CStorageManage::ValidatePartitionRootPathFile:Validating that this partition doesn't share a location with any others. PartitionPath:E:\Enterprise Vault Stores\Vault Ptn1
EV:L {CPartitionRootPathFile::ValidatePartitionRootPathFile} (Entry)
EV:M The partition entry id in the xml file doesn't match this partition entry

Cause

This issue is caused by the 'EnterpriseVaultPartitionRoot.xml' file in the location stated from the Event ID having a 'PartitionEntryID' value that does not match the value from the 'EnterpriseVaultDirectory' database.

Resolution

Confirm the information and follow the steps below to resolve:

  1. Validate that the path stated in the Event ID is a unique Partition and matches the content for that location.  
  2. Once validated stop the 'Enterprise Vault Storage Service'
  3. Browse to the stated location in the Event
  4. Delete the 'EnterpriseVaultPartitionRoot.xml' file
  5. Start the 'Enterprise Vault Storage Service.  
  6. A new 'EnterpriseVaultPartitionRoot.xml' file will be created with the proper values from the 'EnterpriseVaultDirectory' database.
 

 

Issue/Introduction

Two Vault Storage partitions are using the same storage location, this can be caused by two locations having identical EnterpriseVaultPartitionRoot.xml.
