Error Message

VCS System log shows the following error:
VCS ERROR V-16-10051-6012 GenericService:EVSERVER-ENTERPRISEVAULTADMINSERVICE:online:Failed to wait for the service 'EnterpriseVaultAdminService' to start.  Error = 258.

Cause

When starting the EV services the services may take longer than the VCS default online timeout

Resolution

To workaround the long delays, the VCS default online/offline timouts may be adjusted.
To do this, do the following:

  1. Open the Veritas Cluster Manager and login
  2. Expand the service group for Enterprise Vault
  3. Highlight the GenericService resource and click on the Show all attributes
  4. Look for OnlineWaitLimit attribute and double the value.  This value may vary depending on certain environments.

 

 

Issue/Introduction

Enterprise Vault Admin Service fails to come online on a Veritas Cluster Service (VCS) cluster. No errors are logged in the Veritas Enterprise Vault Event log.
