Pass-Through Recall and Mount Points

Cause

This behavior will occur when the request is coming from the S drive as in the given example.  The S drive/volume is not a target for archiving and therefore the placeholder service will bypass the Pass-Through option.   

Resolution

In this scenario, the mount point(s) must be configured as a target within the VAC and Pass-Through Recall configured on the volume. 

 

 

Issue/Introduction

Consider the following scenario: In the Vault Administration Console (VAC), a File server target volume is configured as D$ and the Pass-Through Recall option is set There are mount points for different folders on D$; Ie. S drive When a Placeholder recall is triggered, the file is recalled and not stored in the specified cache location Note: See the Related Articles section for a listing of file extensions and behaviors when using Pass-Through with regards to Placeholders being removed
