Cause
Two common causes are:
1. Distribution Lists are hidden from the Global Address List.
2. Distribution Lists that no longer exist or are from a different Exchange environment.
Resolution
Un-hide the Distribution List from the Global Address List.
Note: To archive the messages where the DL cannot be expanded, configure the Journal Policy setting "Failed DL expansion behavior" to "Archive item".
Event ID: 3257 will continue but the messages will be archived with an unxpanded DL.
