Attempting to restore the file by double clicking on the placeholder throws the following error:

Folder Access Denied:  You need permission to perform this action.  You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder.

In the NBU Activity Monitor:

The requested operation was partially successful

Cause

The NBU Migrator Service is not running under the Vault Service Account.

Resolution

Edit the NBU Migrator Service to run using the Vault Service Account.

Note: Steps will need to be taken to restore the placeholders that were replaced with 0kb (empty) files.

  1. Delete the 0kb files.
     
  2. Locate the file locations in the Vault Store and delete the 0kb files created when the NBU Migrator attempted to restore the archived file.  The files will have an extension of .ARCH????. 
     
  3. Run FSAUtility to restore placeholders.  Use a date range if possible to prevent restoring all placeholders.
