Cause

MAPI issues. Event 3310 means there is some kind of connection failure between the Enterprise Vault server and Exchange server, or sometimes an error in the MAPI module on the Enterprise Vault server.

Resolution

If the error is caused by some kind of temporary reason, it may be fixed by running fixmapi tool provided by Microsoft, or by simple restarting the Enterprise Vault server.

  1. Open Command Prompt, go to C:\Windows\system32\
  2. Type fixmapi.exe and hit Enter.
  3. Retry export archive.
  4. If it still hangs at start, reboot the Enterprise Vault server computer.
  5. If it still hangs at the start, follow the article 100016660 to fix other MAPI related issues.
