When reviewing documents in Analysis & Review

This document is password protected and could not be opened for conversion. If you know the password, you can use the download icon to view the file in native format.

Veritas eDiscovery Platform has discovered and may have attempted to process password protected files during processing.

Any documents that have password protection can not be opened and indexed by Veritas eDiscovery Platform. Password protected documents will be identified in both the Processing module and Analysis & Review module.

To identify the password protected documents in the Processing module:

1. Navigate to All Cases > Case Name > Processing > Exceptions 
2. Click File is password protected
3. This will show the list of password protected documents at the bottom of the screen
4. Click Export > Export Current List to CSV
5. This will create a CSV download of the document list in the jobs window.

To identify the password protected documents in Analysis & Review:

1. Navigate to All Cases > Case Name > Analysis & Review
2. Click Search to show all documents in the corpus
3. Under File Flag in the Filter Search Results box, next to File is password protected click only
4. This will filter the results to list only the password protected documents
5. Subsequently when reviewing the documents, the message "This document is password protected and could not be opened for conversion. If you know the password, you can use the download icon to view the file in native format."
6. Clicking on the download icon will allow the reviewer to download, unlock and see the document .

Password protected documents will not appear in keyword searches, to have them appear they must be unlocked then saved in an unlocked state, the documents will then need to be processed again into Veritas eDiscovery Platform as normal documents.
