Cause

 An index is in a failed state on the Enterprise Vault server. 

Resolution

1. In the Enterprise Vault - Vault Admin Console (VAC), identify which index is marked as failed on the archive.  Notify the EV administrator to request a repair or rebuild.
Note: An index rebuild on a Journal Archive, may take weeks to months to complete.

  • Right click Archives
  • Select Index Volumes Browser...
  • Select only 'Failed' and 'Offline' attributes
  • Select Search


2. In eDiscovery, run the Enterprise Vault Collection task again only after the failed indexed has been repaired.

Issue/Introduction

When running an Enterprise Vault Collection task against an Enterprise Vault Journal Archive, it may complete as a Partial Success due to a failed index on one or more of the Enterprise Vault archives.
