Error Message

You cannot install the Veritas Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in by launching this MSI file directly. You must launch setup.exe. For more information, contact your administrator.

This is caused by User Account Controls (UAC) still being active on the computer, even if UAC has been set to 'Never notify' via the Control Panel.

Turn off UAC via the registry by setting the DWORD EnableLUA to a value of 0, which can be found in the following location:
 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\

Once registry key has been amended a reboot of the computer will be required.

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
