Some index volumes may not have the correct backup mode set. This can result in inconsistent backups.

Restart Indexing service to correct this problem.

Running a dtrace while setting/clearing backup mode on the Index Location logs the following line:


(EVIndexAdminService) <7580> EV~E |Event ID: 41397 Some index volumes may not have the correct backup mode set. This can result in inconsistent backups.|Restart Indexing service to correct this problem.|Indexing service entry id: 14B2D212E73AAEB4C8C6C0C34C33C4AE021710000EV_Server1|Exception: Failed Index Volume => Id: 2832|Failed Index Volume => Id: 2993 Error: Indexing engine exception|

It also specifies the Index Volume Ids affected as seen above.

Note: checking the Index Service properties on the Console, on Index Locations Tab, The 'Backup Mode' Checks get cleared and set whenever Backup Mode is set and cleared on Index Locations

 

 

Cause

Corruption with repository.xml or invalid information within it.

Note: Having an incompatible version of antivirus can cause this issue.

Resolution

Recreate the repository.xml file defined in HOWTO56259
