V-437-3432

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Enterprise Vault
Event Category: Journal Task
Event ID: 2216
Description:
Message dispenser will suspend processing for 5 minutes due to a recoverable error
V-437-2216

Cause

There are two common causes for these errors:

1. Too many Archiving tasks all configured with 5 concurrent connections utilizing the maximum MAPI sessions available (hence the out of memory error)
2. MAPI profiles have become bloated thus not allowing the Tasks to create the necessary profiles in order to complete its work

Resolution

1. Adjust the concurrent connections on the Connections tab found on the properties of each task. The default is 5.  If there are multiple tasks all with 5 or more, they may have to be decreased slightly until the errors cease.

2. Remove all MAPI profiles that have built up over time

This can be done in the Mail app in the Control Panel. Note that if the profile list is too large, the app will not open.  In this scenario, use the following steps.

A. Make sure to be logged onto the server as the Vault Service Account
B. Open the Registry and browse to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT \CURRENTVERSION\WINDOWS MESSAGING SUBSYSTEM\PROFILES

C. Rename the Profiles key
D. Open Outlook which will recreate the key
E. Refresh the registry and confirm a new Profiles key has been created
F. Restart the Task Controller Service (or each task individually)

Issue/Introduction

Consider the following scenarios:
  1. Manual Archiving emails within Outlook does not work and the message icon is stuck as Pending (IPM.Note.PendingArchive)
  2. Restoring archived emails within Outlook does not work and the message icon is stuck as Pending (IPM.Note.PendingArchive)
  3. Archiving Tasks are running but nothing is archived during the scheduled run. This includes the following types of Tasks:
  • Mailbox Archiving
  • Journal Archiving
  • Public Folder Archiving
A review of the Enterprise Vault (EV) event logs show the two events below.
