[#41025] QueryEngine error; com.teneo.esa.asyncqueryengine.driver.TooManyExpansionsException: [#41039] Total terms and expansion count of xxxx exceeds the limit of 100000. Reduce selected expansions.

The search will produce a number of results that exceed the soft limit of 100,000. This can be due to a large number of keywords, wildcards, or stemmed variations.

Option #1 
Alter the search query to decrease the number of terms produced from the wildcard(s).

Option #2 
Change the system property (esa.queryengine.maxexpansions.combined_sum) to temporarily increase the limit. 

Note: The soft limit of 100,000 results exists for performance reasons. The larger the search, the longer the results can take to return. In rare instances, the search may be so large and complex that Clearwell can be run out of memory, causing the program to crash. As the error will show a number of expected returns that exceed the default limit, we recommend to only increase the limit slightly beyond the number of expected returns. For example: if a search returns 180,000 results, increase the limit to 200,000, rather than one million.
 

To change the property:

1. Log in to Clearwell eDiscovery as a user with System Administrator privileges.
2. Click System
3. Click Support Features
4. Select Property Browser  from the Choose a Support Feature
5. Copy and paste  esa.queryengine.maxexpansions.combined_sum in the Name of Property to change field
6. Enter  eg. 200000 in New value (leave blank to remove) .
7. Check the Confirm change.Are you sure? option
8. Check the Confirm Change check box
9. Click Submit
10. The new value of esa.queryengine.maxexpansions.combined_sum will be displayed.
11. The changes will take effect immediately.
12. Run the search
