Description
Error Message
The PST migration report has the following line that confirms there is an "Access Denied" issue:
PSTs that failed to be migrated:
-------------------------------------------------
PST: \\Server\PST Files\John Smith\import.pst --> Archive: Smith, John; Mailbox: Smith, John (Access is denied.)
Cause
The user account importing the PST does not have inherited administrator permissions to the PST.
Resolution
Ensure that either of the below points are true:
- The VSA is a local administrator and is being used when importing the PST.
- The VSA is a local administrator and has access to the PST. To confirm this open the properties of the PST and then to the Security tab. In the Groups or user names make sure that either the VSA is listed or that the Administrators group is listed.
After the proper permissions are confirmed re-import the PST again.
Issue/Introduction
When importing a PST via the PST Migration Wizard it fails with a generic error generated immediately after clicking NEXT on the final summary page. The issue occurs when a user other than the Vault Service Account (VSA) logs onto the EV server with a role granted to import PSTs and attempts to import a PST in which they don't have inherited administrator permissions to.
