Cause

This behavior occurs when dynamic fields are present in Microsoft Office documents or Lotus Notes templates. When a dynamic field is placed in a document, it will show dynamic content when opened or viewed. For example, the dynamic field =TODAY() will display the current date when used in an Excel spreadsheet, and will update whenever the document is opened. When Clearwell processes these documents, either when rendering in native view, Caching or when printing or producing, the dynamic field is updated when the item is placed into Clearwell's cache as the item is processed. After this stage, Clearwell is utilizing the cached copy of the document and dynamic content is no longer updated. However, as the content created by the dynamic field is a part of the document, Clearwell has no way of removing this or controlling its behavior in any way. Both Clearwell and the native document format are functioning in the manner in which they were designed.

Resolution

This is expected behavior. Clearwell cannot control or disable dynamic fields within documents.

Issue/Introduction

During Caching, Printing, or Exporting operations, documents appear to have date, time and / or path information modified by Clearwell. Date and time fields will show the current date and time, and in the event that path information is present, this will show the source path used within Clearwell.
