Cause
The Provisioning Group had the option Initially suspend archiving enabled when the group was created. Once the Provisioning Task runs, Enterprise Vault suspends archiving for each new mailbox that it automatically enabled. Archiving does not start until the user of a new mailbox enables archiving.
Resolution
The Enterprise Vault Administrator can follow the following options to enable the mailboxes for archiving:
- Allow users to enable archiving on their mailboxes from Outlook.
- If multiple mailboxes were affected by mistake, then the Enterprise Vault Administrator can remove the Enterprise Vault properties from all the affected mailboxes using an EVPM script (000028255).
Under section [Mailbox], customer can specify a provisioning group instead of a mailbox:
[Mailbox]
ProvisioningGroup=NameOfTheProvisioningGroup
It's recommended to run the provisioning task before running the EVPM script to assure that all the affected mailboxes are updated correctly within the Provisioning Group.
Once all the mailboxes are zapped, the Enterprise Vault Administrator needs to enable all the mailboxes for archiving.
Issue/Introduction
When running the Exchange Archiving Task and/or when using the option Display Policies Assigned to Mailboxes, some mailboxes are displayed with Archiving Suspended as Yes. Thus, the Exchange mailboxes are not archived properly. After reviewing the Provisioning Group settings, the option Initially suspend archiving is not enabled.
