Cause

The CA/DA Reports are accessed via the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) website. This issue is caused by the Internet Explorer security settings not passing the current user’s credentials as needed by SSRS.

Resolution

Complete the following steps to remove the prompt and allow Internet Explorer to automatically use the logged in user's credentials:

  1. Click on the Start button in Windows and then click the Run option. Note that accessing the Run option may require scrolling to and expanding the Windows System folder to see that option.
  2. Execute the following command in the Run window to  open the Internet Explorer properties page:
    INETCPL.CPL
  3. Click on the Security tab.
  4. Highlight the Trusted Sites option
  5. Click on the Sites button.
  6. Note the check box for the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone option to see if a check mark is present.  If appropriate, clear that check box.
  7. Add the Universal Resource Locator (URL) address for the CA or DA server's EVBAAdmin site as appropriate in the 'Add this website to the zone:' field (i.e., for a DA server named DASvr1 in the evlab.com domain, use https://DASvr1.evlab.com/EVBAAdmin).
  8. Click the Add button to add the URL to the 'Websites:' listing.
  9. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 as needed should the URLs of the EV server's EnterpriseVault virtual directory (i.e., https://EVServer1.evlab.com/EnterpriseVault) and / or SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) server's Reports virtual directory (i.e., https://SSRS1.evlab.com/Reports) also be required (should only need the CA or DA server's EVBAAdmin site URL).
  10. Click on the Close button to close the Trusted Sites page.
  11. Click on the Custom Level button.
  12. Under the User Authentication section, click the radio button for the Automatic logon with current user name and password option
  13. Click the OK button to save the change.
  14. Click on the General tab of the Internet Properties page.
  15. Check on the check box for the Delete browsing history on exit option to place a check mark in it.
  16. Click on the 'Delete...' button.
  17. Monitor the deletion processing until completed.
  18. Close Internet Properties page by clicking the OK button when the deletion processing is done.
  19. The IE Enhanced Security Configuration may need to be disabled on the Accelerator Server as well if the above steps do not resolve the issue:
    1. Log onto the Accelerator Server with the Vault Service Account.
    2. Launch Server Manager.
    3. Select Local Server.
    4. In the Properties pane, note the value of the IE Enhanced Security Configuration option.
    5. Click the status link to open the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration page.
    6. Click the Off radio buttons as needed for the Administrators: and Users: options to fully turn off this setting for everyone.
    7. Click the OK button to save the change(s) and close the page.
    8. Close Server Manager and log off of the server as needed.
  20. Restart the CA/DA Client if still open.

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to access the Reports tab or attempting to create a new Report or access an existing Report in an Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) or Discovery Accelerator (DA) Client displays a Windows Security pop-up dialog box prompting to enter credentials. Below is an example of the pop-up dialog box:
