Cause

When EMC Centera is configured for a Vault Store, the partition may require a Pool Entry Authorization (PEA) file to grant access to write to the target device.  If this file is not properly configured on the EV server, a WriteToCentera function call may fail. This can also occur when the PEA file has been changed on the Centera and not updated in the VAC. 

 

Resolution

Confirm the PEA file is correctly set on the partition:

  1. Open the Vault Administration Console
  2. Expand Vault Store Groups
  3. Click on the Vault Store
  4. On the right side, double click on the open partition
  5. Under the Connection tab, confirm the PEA file is correctly assigned

If a PEA file is not set and is required by the EMC Centera device, contact the EMC Centera administrator to obtain the correct PEA file.

Issue/Introduction

The error below will be written to the Enterprise Vault (EV) event logs. Some symptoms of this issue include:
  • Pending messages in the Journal/User Mailboxes
  • Critical alert in the Vault Administration Console (VAC) indicating Items Awaiting Backup
