Resolution

The following two options may help resolve slow searching in Clearwell cases:

Option 1:

  1. Login to Clearwell and go to the case that is searching slowly
  2. Go to Processing > Settings
  3. Expand the "Modify search parameters"
  4. Place a checkmark in "Disable find similar in Review mode"
  5. Click "Save" at the bottom
  6. Retry searches of the corpus to see if they are now running any faster.

Option 2: This options sets whether or not dynamic snippets are enabled for display (this means the content retriever must go to fetch the snippet content for each document on the current search results page).

  1. Login to Clearwell and go to System > Support Features
  2. From the drop down menu select "Property Browser"
  3. In the field "Name of property to change" type in esa.queryengine.dynamicsnippet.enabled
  4. In the field "New value (leave blank to remove)" type in false
  5. Place a checkmark in "Confirm change. Are you sure?"
  6. Click Submit at the bottom
  7. Open the Clearwell utility on the Clearwell server Desktop
  8. Type in 3 to stop all Clearwell Services and hit Enter
  9. Wait for the services to stop completely, then type in 4 to start all Clearwell Services and hit Enter
  10. Once the Clearwell Services are running, login to Clearwell and see if searches are now running faster.

Issue/Introduction

When running a search whether it be a basic or complicated/advanced search, the results take over 20 seconds to display. Some complicated searches can take quite some time to complete, however basic single word searches should not take a long time to complete.
