 In a DTrace of StorageDelete:

457 11:37:40.925 [8112] (StorageDelete) <6492> EV:H {CStoreAccessor::CheckContainerStatii} (Exit) Status: [Access denied For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://entced.symantec.com/entt? product=ev&language=english&version=10.0.4.0&build=10.0.4.1354&error=V-437-6145 (0xc0041801)]

Cause

This is the expected behavior of the Storage Expiry process as currently designed. It is intended that the moved archive remain in its exact pre-move state as a safeguard in case the move operation does not complete satisfactorily. The administrator should delete the closed archive from the Vault Administration Console when satisfied that the move was successful.

Resolution

While this is the intended behavior of Enterprise Vault, it can become a problem if the closed archive resides on a partition utilizing hardware retention (such as an EMC Centera in Governance or Compliance Plus modes). Since the hardware retention prevents the administrative deletion of the archive, Storage Expiry is the only way that items can be removed from the archive in accordance with policy. A workaround exists for this situation and is available by contacting Veritas Support.

Issue/Introduction

When an archive is moved using the Move Archive feature, the original archive is marked with a "closed" status. The items in this closed archive will not be expired even after their retention period has elapsed.
