The Veritas eDiscovery Platform (eDP) contains the following services installed into Windows Services.  Below is a brief detail of what each service is used for:

EsaApplicationService - This is the heart of the Veritas eDiscovery Platform. This service is started by a program called FireDaemon which in turn starts Apache Tomcat and the rest of the eDP SubSystem processes. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.

EsaEvCrawlerService - This is the retriever service for Veritas Enterprise Vault(EV). This service is responsible for coordinating all the information for the EsaEvRetrieverService from the local Enterprise Vault server. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaEvRetrieverService - This service pulls down all the collection information requested by the EsaEvCrawlerService from a Veritas Enterprise Vault server. This can be any EV item including calendar, mail, notes, and other EV related content. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaExchangeCrawlerService - This is the retriever service for Microsoft Exchange. This service is responsible for coordinating all the information for the EsaExchangeRetrieverService from the local Exchange server. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaExchangeRetrieverService - This service pulls down all the collection information requested by the EsaExchangeCrawlerService from a Microsoft Exchange server. This can be any Exchange item including calendar, mail, notes, and other Exchange related content. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaIGCBravaLicenseService - This is the licensing component of the IGC System that it is used within the eDP product. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaIGCJobProcessor - This is the processor service that is the heart of the IGC Subsystem which eDP uses in order to process, redact, product, and export image documents. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaNsfCrawlerService - This is the retriever service for a Domino Server. This service is responsible for coordinating all the information for the EsaNsfRetrieverService from the local Domino server. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaNsfRetrieverService - This service pulls down all the collection information requested by the EsaNsfCrawlerService from a Domino server. This can be any Lotus Notes item including calendar, mail, notes, and other Lotus Notes related content. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaNxGridAgent - This service is responsible for searching the phonetic indexes of the Nexidia Search Grid for Audio inside the eDP.  If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.  (v7.1.4+ only )
 
EsaNxGridBase - This service manages the data storage and communications with the Nexidia Search Grid for Audio portion of the eDP product.  If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.  (v7.1.4+ only )
 
EsaNxGridGateway - This service is the public interface to the Nexidia Search Grid that ties in with the eDP user interface for audio searches, retrievers, processing, etc.  (v7.1.4+ only )
 
EsaPstCrawlerService - This is the retriever service for Microsoft Outlook generated PST files. This service is responsible for coordinating all the information for the EsaPstRetrieverService from a Microsoft Outlook generated PST file. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaPstRetrieverService - This service pulls down all the collection information requested by the EsaPstCrawlerService from a Microsoft Exchange server. This can be any Exchange item including calendar, mail, notes, and other Exchange related content. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaRissCrawlerService - This is the retriever service for HP IAP Server. This service is responsible for coordinating all the information for the EsaRissRetrieverService from the local HP IAP server. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaRissRetrieverService - This service pulls down all the collection info requested by the EsaRissCrawlerService from a HP IAP server. This can be any HP IAP item including calendar, mail, notes, and other HP IAP related content. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
 
EsaImageHelper - This is for the Muhimbi Document Converter Service which is integrated into the eDP product for working with PDF documents (including conversion and printing). If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state. (v8.0+ only)
 
MySQL - This service is the database server that the eDP product uses to store all content and settings of the eDP system. If this service is disabled, all services that depend on it will fail to start rendering the eDP product in a broken state.
