Error Message

The source is greyed out, but does not collect.

Cause

If the there are more than one active network card on the appliance and these are bound, there may be a sequence error.

This may have to be addressed by your Network Administrator.

This can occur when the Appliance has been rebuilt or the Operating System replaced.

Resolution

Adjust the binding sequence of the network cards:

  • Set IP4 binding to the top of the list and disable TCP/IPv6 on all NIC cards.
  • Place the correct adapter on the top of the list for multiple NIC environments.

To make this change please do the following (or ask your Network Administrator):

1. Open Control Panel

2. Open Network and Sharing Center

3. Select Change adapter settings

4. Highlight the NIC (but do not select) and press "Alt+N"

5. Select "Advanced" then "Advanced Settings"

6. Select "Adapters and Bindings"

7. Set the correct card* to the top of the list for multiple NIC environments and set IP4 binding to the top of the list and disable TCP/IPv6 on all NIC cards.

*This should be provided by your Network Administrator.

Collections should then complete:

Issue/Introduction

When connecting to a source location the collection fails when using NetBios (\\SOURCENAME\Client_Sources) If the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) or IP Address is used, the collection is successful. For example "\\SOURCENAME\Client_Sources" is not successful. However "\\SOURCENAME.YOURCOMPANY.COM\Client_Sources" and "\\192.168.1.35\Client_Sources" will work correctly.
