Cause

The Enterprise Vault system mailbox assigned to the archiving task is corrupted.

 

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, a new system mailbox needs to be created in the Exchange Server.

Note: The new EV system mailbox needs to be created in the same Exchange server handled by the archiving task. In an Exchange DAG environment, confirm that the Exchange database in which the new system mailbox is to be created has its active copy mounted on the Exchange Server targeted by the archiving task.

Follow these steps:

  1. Stop the Enterprise Vault Archiving Task.
     
  2. Create a new system mailbox in the Exchange Server.
     
  3. Go to the Properties of the Archiving Task.
     
  4. Go to the Settings tab and assign the new system mailbox.
     
  5. Restart the Archiving Task.
     
  6. Disable archiving for the desired mailbox.
 

 

Issue/Introduction

Exchange mailboxes cannot be disabled for archiving. Enterprise Vault generates Event IDs 2207 and 3140 in the Enterprise Vault Event Log. These events are generated for all mailboxes in the same Exchange Server. In an Exchange DAG environment, moving the Exchange database to another Exchange server may resolve the issue temporarily.
