This item is being archived by Enterprise Vault and cannot be changed. Outlook cannot mark the item as having been forwarded or replied to.

Cause

The item has been stored in the Vault but its corresponding shortcut has not been created yet. Until the shortcut is created, changes to the item’s metadata (such as marking it as forwarded or replied to) are blocked to ensure consistency between the shortcut and the archived item. This is expected behavior.

Resolution

The pop-up dialog can be dismissed with the No button and the dialog will not pop up the next time the user forwards or replies to an archive-pending message.
To disable the pop-up dialog preemptively, the administrator can add the following setting to the Registry on the user’s machine.

When forwarding or replying to a message that is pending archive, the user receives a pop-up dialog box stating that the pending item cannot be changed.
