Cause
This problem occurs because Enterprise Vault uses a CNAME alias that is created in the Domain Name Service (DNS) zone to connect to the Enterprise Vault server. By default, the server does not 'listen' on the alias, and does not accept connections to that name.
Resolution
An operating system setting called DisableStrictNameChecking must be in place.
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
Add the following registry key to the EV server: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services \LanmanServer\Parameters
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, then add the following registry value:
Value name: DisableStrictNameChecking
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Decimal
Value: 1
Restart the server.
Issue/Introduction
