Event ID: 4103 "Failed to read the SiteID value from the Registry"
Resolution
If the
SiteID registry value on the Enterprise Vault Server is missing, perform the following steps to create this value.
1. In SQL Enterprise Manager, navigate to Enterprise Vault directory Database and highlight Tables, as shown in Figure 1.

2. On the right hand side of the screen, select
SiteEntry table and Right click the
SiteEntry and select
Open Table > Return all rows, as shown in Figure 2.

3. Make a note of the
SiteEntryID, as shown in Figure 3.

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
4. On Enterprise Vault open
Regedit and browse to
On 32 Bit Servers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault
OR
On 64 Bit Servers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\KVS\Enterprise Vault. Right click on the Enterprise Vault key and select
New > String Value, as shown in Figure 4.

5. Right click on the newly created value and select "Modify". Populate the '
Value data' field with the
SiteEntryID information that was gathered from SQL as shown in Figure 5.

6. Start the Enterprise Vault Services.
Issue/Introduction
Enterprise Vault for Microsoft Exchange services may not start if the "SiteID" value in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault is missing.
