Enterprise Vault buttons do not appear in Outlook when RPC over HTTP is configured.

Cause

This issue can occur if the Outlook 2003 client is configured to use RPC over HTTP proxy serveror the Outlook 2007/2010/2013 client is configured to use Outlook Anywhere. The RPC over HTTP restrictions setting in the relevant Exchange Desktop Policy is set to Disable User Extensions.

Resolution

To resolve this issue change the RPC over HTTP restrictions setting in the Exchange Desktop Policy to None as described in the steps below:

 

1. Launch the EV Administration Console, navigate to the desired Vault Site, expand Policies, and then Exchange.

2. Click on Mailbox then right click on the relevant Exchange mailbox policy and select Properties

3. Select the Advanced tab and select Outlook from the drop down menu.

4. Under the settings , select RPC over HTTP restrictions and click Modify

5. Change the setting to None and click OK.

6. Synchronize all users through the mailbox archiving task.

a. Expand Enterprise Vault
 
b. Expand Directory
 
c. Expand the site name
 
d. Expand Enterprise Vault Servers
 
e. Expand the Enterprise Vault server name.
 
f. Click on Task.
 
g. Double click on the Mailbox Archiving task.
 
h. Click on the Synchronization tab.
 
i. Verify that the All Mailboxes radio button is checked.
 
j. Click on the Synchronization button.
 
k. Wait approximately 10 minutes then have the user login to Outlook.

Issue/Introduction
