(PstLocatorTask) EV-H {PSTLOGFILE.EN_US} Hard disk search failure on WIN7OTLK : Failed to read registry to get list of drives : The network path was not found.|

Cause

There are three main reasons for this specific issue:

  2. Remote Registry Service is not running and disabled
  3. The account running the Locator task is not a domain administrator

Resolution

Figure 1

  1. Disable the Windows firewall or allow an exception for port 445 TCP.  This port is already specified though not enabled by default and is located under  "File and Print Sharing" in the Windows Firewall Exceptions.
  2. Start the Remote Registry Service
  3. Change the PST Locator Task Logon account to a user with Domain Administrators privileges or an account that has local administrative rights to the client machines.
Note:  it is recommended that the Vault Service Account (VSA) does not have domain administration rights
