The following errors may be seen in the Event Viewer log:
 
Event ID: 7180
 Description:
 Could not access indexable item: %1 Internal reference: %2

Event ID: 7284
 Description:
 Failed to add item to the index due to failure loading the item's index metadata. Reason: %1 Index Id: %2 Saveset Id: %3 Internal reference: %4

Event ID: 7288
 Description:
 Addition of item to index abandoned. Index: %1 Saveset Id: %2 Sequence Number: %3 All previous attempts to add the item to the index have failed. To prevent further failures the item will not be indexed.

Cause

The temp folder can have a build up of items in it and needs to be cleared out in order to be written to.

 

Resolution

 Follow the steps below to clear the temp folder.
  1. Stop the Enterprise Vault services
  2. Clear the temp folder for the Vault Service Account - C: \ Documents and Settings > Vault Admin > Local Settings > Temp
  3. Start the Enterprise Vault services

Issue/Introduction

Receiving Index Service errors; Event IDs 7180, 7284 and 7288, items are not being indexed.
