How to export all items for a user and remove those items from the archive.

All items can be exported to the Mailbox or to a PST and removed from the archive by following the steps below:
  1. Open the Vault Administration Console (VAC).
  2. Right-click Archives, click Export.
  3. Select Export Archives to their original mailboxes or to PST, click Next.
  4. Select List all available archives, click Next.
  5. Select the users, click Next.
    • Note: Multiple users can be selected by holding down Ctrl.
  6. Select Export all items from this root folder path and type \.
  7. Check Remove exported items from archive and Export items from subfolders below root click Next and Finish.
Notes:
  • If the associated Retention Categories are set to "Prevent deletion of archived items in this category", then items associated with this retention will be exported however will not be deleted.
  • If storing to EMC Centera, and the storage Device is set to Compliancy Mode, items will not be deleted from the archive prior to the retention expiration. 

Issue/Introduction

It may be necessary to export all items in an archive back to the mailbox and remove them from the archive. This can be done with the Export Archive Wizard.
