V-437-3172Cause:

MAPI error 0x80040109 means MAPI_E_OBJECT_CHANGED.
The item which Enterprise Vault is about to archive is being accessed by a third-party product or other client. In particular, this is often caused by AntiVirus software, which removes data from the email body.

Resolution

Scenario 1 - Simultaneous access from another client

  • Archive the item once another client is not accessing it.

Scenario 2 - AntiVirus software is modifying the item.
  • Export the item to the desktop (drag and drop to Windows desktop from Outlook).
  • Place the item back in the folder within Outlook.  This will clear MAPI_E_OBJECT_CHANGED status from AntiVirus affected item.
  • Then archive the item again.

Issue/Introduction

Event ID 3172 prevents Enterprise Vault from archiving an email item. When a user tries to archive an item, Enterprise Vault recorded Event ID 3172 with MAPI error 0x80040109 and the item can not be archived.
