Cause

This issue is caused by a lack of sufficient resources on the EV server.  Typically, this is due to insufficient memory or configuration settings for the pagefile.sys file.

Resolution

  1. To resolve this issue, ensure that the Enterprise Vault server meets the minimum hardware requirements for memory.
  2. If your server meets the minimum hardware requirements for memory as illustrated in the Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts, check the Page File configuration. This should be at least 1.5x of the physical RAM for EV and 2x for CA/DA.
For more detailed information regarding this, check the following document Insufficient Resources Can Cause Enterprise Vault (EV) Services to Shutdown (veritas.com)

The Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts for the 14 through 15 versions can be accessed here.

Issue/Introduction

Journal archiving stops with event ID 4140, 4151 and many 40966 event id's. The Enterprise Vault (EV) server has to be rebooted in order to get journaling to work again.
