Error Message

Unable to list the contents of the whole archive in the allowed time.

Cause

This issue occurs due to a 60 second default timeout in place for federated searches.

Resolution

To change the default follow these steps:
 
  1. Create or edit the WebApp.ini file location in the Enterprise Vault installation folder - typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\
     
  2. Add the following line:
     

    The value used will depend on a number of factors - number of archives being searched, number of index volumes, size of archives and the number of search terms used.

FederatedSearchTimeout=<value>
 

  1. Save the file and restart IIS on the Enterprise Vault server. (Typically by executing IISRESET command from an Admin CMD prompt.)
     
  2. Conduct the search again.
