Description
Error Message
In the Enterprise Vault Administration Console (VAC) under Enterprise Vault Servers -> Tasks, the tasks show a status of "RPC Server Unavailable". This error may also occur in the following scenarios:
A. Attempting to refresh the VAC (mmc)
B. Starting or Stopping a Task
C. Connecting to the Enterprise Vault (EV) Server.
Cause
This can occur when the EV Server's Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), Alias name, and/or Site name do not resolve to the correct IP Address.
These names can be found in the Enterprise Vault Administration Console
Resolution
Verify the Enterprise Vault Server's Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), Alias name, and/or Site name:
1. Check the Domain Name System (DNS) Server and update the DNS records so that the EV Server's FQDN, Alias name and Site Name name point to the correct IP address.
2. Check the local hosts file on the EV Server and confirm there are no invalid entries.
3. Confirm the EV Server's FQDN, Alias name and Site Name resolve correctly using the ping command.
4. Restart the Enterprise Vault Services.
