The steps below will update the policy to be changed as well as synchronizing the mailboxes so the policy changes will be applied to targeted mailboxes.
Make the desired changes to the mailbox policy.
- Open the Vault Administration Console (VAC)
- Navigate to Enterprise Vault => Directory on > => > => Policies
- Select the Category Mailbox Policy or Desktop policy => Properties
- Make the desired changes. Once finished, click OK to exit the Policy Properties.
Synchronize the mailbox(s)
- Open the Vault Administration Console (VAC)
- Navigate to Enterprise Vault => Directory on => => Enterprise Vault Servers => => Tasks
- Right click on the Mailbox Archiving Task for the Exchange server and select Properties
- Click on the Synchronization tab
- Select All mailboxes and click Synchronize
- Click OK
Note: Changes made to the policy are applied to the individual mailboxes within Exchange during a Synchronization. If only selected mailboxes are synchronized, only these will show the updated changes.
Note: By Default, a Synchronize is scheduled to be run against all mailboxes at 12:00pm and 12:00am daily.
Note: This process will update the EV Hidden Message generated in enabled mailboxes, in the root of the mailbox (IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault.Settings)
Note: This process will update the mailboxes as they are on the Exchange Server in question. If users are utilizing Microsoft Outlook in Cached Mode, these changes will not take effect immediately.
Run the Mailbox Archive Task to start pulling message from the mailbox.
- Navigate to Enterprise Vault => Directory on => => Enterprise Vault Servers => => Tasks
- Right click on the Mailbox Archiving Task for the Exchange server and select Run Now
- Select Normal, Report on all mailboxes, and Report on all items and click OK
Note: Step 3 is optional. Alternatively, the scheduled archive window can beutilized.
