Description
Error Message
Could not connect to the Enterprise Vault Directory on 'EVSite'. Check that 'EVSite' is available on network and that the Enterprise Vault Directory Service is running
A possible cause for this error is that the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database is hosted on a named SQL Server instance, and the instance name is not properly included in the connection information in the Registry.
Another possible cause issue is that an inoperative domain controller is set in the DNS suffix settings for the EV server's NIC.
Resolution
To verify the SQL Server connection information:
1) On the Enterprise Vault (EV) Server, open the Registry editor (regedit.exe).
2) Modify the registry value to include the instance name as follows: Location (32-bit OS): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Directory\Directory Service Location (64-bit OS): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Directory\Directory Service Name: SQL Server Name Type: String Value: ServerName\InstanceName
Example:
3) Restart the EV Admin and Directory Services for the change to take effect.
Note: When using more than one SQL Instance on the SQL Server, the 'SQL Server Browser' service also needs to be running on the SQL Server.
