Cause
This issue may be observed if the SQL Server name or Instance name has been changed however the name was not updated for the individual Vault Stores.

Resolution
In order to allow users to retrieve items after changing the SQL Servername or database location, perform the following to update the SQL Server value in the Vault Store Properties.
- On the Enterprise Vault (EV) server, open the Vault Administration Console (VAC)
- Stop the Enterprise Vault Storage Service.
- Expand Vault Store Groups > Vault Store name > Properties.
- On the Database tab, verify the SQL Server value is set to the correct SQL Server.
Note: If the location is a named instance, the format will be SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME; otherwise, it will show as SERVERNAME.
- Restart the Enterprise Vault Storage Service for the changes to take effect.
