Resolution
In order to exclude a clause (word or phrase) in a Discovery Accelerator search, there must be at least one inclusion clause; an excluded word or phrase cannot be used on a line by itself and must have at least one other word or phrase that needs to be included in the search results. A minus sign (-) before the clause is the syntax to indicate an exclusion clause. When excluding multiple clauses, each exclusion clause must have the minus sign before the clause.
For example, when searching for the word Insurance, but excluding the word Medicare in a Subject or Content field, the search criteria would be as follows:
Subject or Content: Insurance -Medicare
This search criteria searches for the word Insurance, but exclude the word Medicare.
However, if an additional word Fraud need to be excluded in addition to the above search criteria, simply add it to the end of the search criteria:
Subject or Content: Insurance -Medicare -Fraud
This search criteria searches for the word Insurance, but excluding the word Medicare and Fraud.
To exclude multiple phrases, simply put quotes around the phrases to exclude. For example, to search for Insurance Premium, but excluding Fraudulent Practice and Criminal Act:
Subject or Content: "Insurance Premium" -"Fraudulent Practice" - "Criminal Act"
This search criteria searches the phrase Insurance Premium, but excluding phrases Fraudulent Practice and Criminal Act.
