Error Message

Event ID: 3138 An error occurred whilst enabling archiving for the mailbox /O=US/OU=Test/can=Recipients/cn=JournalMailbox |Error: <0x8004060c>

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers and locate the User entry for the mailbox mentioned in the event and open the User Account properties.
2. Click on the Exchange General tab.
3. Click on the Storage Limits... button.
4. In both the Storage limits and Deleted item retention section a check box will exist: Use mailbox store defaults
5. If this box is unchecked then check both boxes, click OK and then click Apply. This will force a change to the value of the attribute mDBUseDefaults.
   1. Note: This change may not take affect until replication has taken place and depends on the environment.  This can take up to several hours.
6. Run a manual synchronization on the mailbox from the journal archiving task.  The synchronization process will return a message box to the screen indicating the status of the synchronization. The synchronization should be successful.
   1. Note:  If the synchronization is not successful then it may be necessary to restart the task to allow for the mailbox to be enabled.
