Cause

This issue can occur if the Internet Explorer option for 'Enable Integrated Windows Authentication' is not set on the affected workstation.

Troubleshooting:
 
1. Enable EV client logging on the affected workstation.  Refer to the 'Related Documents' section of this article for more information on enabling EV client logging.
 
2. Review the client log for the download request and resulting error:

3. Review the IIS log on the EV server for the corresponding download request and error:

Solution:
 
1. Launch Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
 
2. Select the 'Enable Integrated Windows Authentication' check box.
 
3. Restart Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Opening and restoring items that have been archived using Enterprise Vault (EV) for Microsoft Exchange using Outlook or by selecting 'View Whole Item' in the Web Access Application (search.asp) are initially successful, but consecutive attempts fail.
