01. Make sure the Domino Server and Lotus Notes you are planning to install is fully supported by Enterprise Vault by referring the Compatibility List. 

02. Stop the Enterprise Vault services

03. Take a copy of the Domino Server notes.ini file

04. Take a copy of the Enterprise Vault user ID file on the Lotus Notes installation folder

05. On the EVDG change the Domino Server service to run with the local system (and interact with the desktop), restart the Domino Server service

06. Perform the Domino Server upgrade and restart if asked by the installer

07. After the restart start the Domino Server service and allow the upgrade within the Domino console

08. After the upgrade has finished perform the Lotus Notes upgrade if necessary / needed

09. Install the mandatory Domino Server or Lotus Notes Hotfixes if necessary

10. On the EVDG change the Domino Server service to run with the Vault System Account, restart the Domino Server service

11. On the EVDG reinstall the Enterprise Vault binaries to make sure the upgraded Domino Server (and Lotus Notes) are working properly

12. Execute the EVInstall.nsf against the EVDG server to prepare the upgraded Domino Server properly (creating new evdg_ or evdgmail.ntf templates or modifying the forms if necessary)
