Error Message

When trying to open the Enterprise Vault (EV) URL, http://evserver.domain/enterpriseVault , a 503 error is returned with the text:

Service Unavailable - HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable

Additionally, when trying to restore an item from the EV Client in Outlook, you see the following message:

Could not process the selected items. Reason: Enterprise Vault is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

This issue could be caused if the Enterprise Vault Application pools in IIS are stopped.

1. Open IIS Manager.
    
2. Under the Application Pools,  right click on EnterpriseVaultAppPool and choose Start.
    
3. Open a new browser to https://your-ev-server/enterprisevault.

 
Note: In IIS 7, the Enterprise Vault App Pools needs to be set to start Immediately. Right click on them, choose Basic Settings and make sure the box is checked for Start Application Pool Immediately.
