Error message: Turn on Compatibility View to display this website correctly in Internet Explorer

Cause

There can be multiple issues that cause the above error to be displayed.  These issues are, but not limited to, the following:
  1. The Internet Explorer (IE) Compatibility Mode is not enabled.
  2. The domain of the CA or DA server is not configured in the IE 11 Compatibility Settings.
  3. The Default Display Language that is set on the Accelerator server does not match any of the provided CA or DA install versions.  The current listing of install versions is listed as supported languages in the Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts' Localization chapter as noted in the Accelerator UI's section of each version of EV listed.  The latest EV Compatibility Charts are at https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/128058600-128865835-0/v128055538-128865835.

Resolution

To resolve the above noted causes, follow the appropriate instructions below.

Turn on Compatibility View and ensure the domain of the CA or DA server is properly configured:

  1. Click on the IE tools icon (looks like a gear in the upper right of the browser).
  2. Select the 'Compatibility View settings' option as shown in Figure 2 below.

Figure 2: Compatibility View Settings option selection.

  3. Look in the 'Websites you've added to Compatibility View:' window to see if the CA or DA server's domain has been added (i.e. mydomain.local).
  4. If the CA or DA server's domain has not been added, add it to the 'Add this website:' text box (see Figure 3 below for an example).  After the domain has been added into the field, click the Add button and then click the Close button.

  5. If the DA server's domain must be added, close and relaunch IE to see if the EVBAAdmin site can be properly displayed.
For optimum results, also do the following:
  1. In Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the Tools icon
  3. Select the Internet Options option.
  4. Click on the Advanced tab.
  5. Locate the Multimedia category.
  6. Ensure that the Play animations in webpages option is selected.  Note that enabling this option requires restarting the computer to complete the enabling process.
  7. Click on the Privacy tab.
  8. Ensure the Turn on pop-up blocker check box is cleared.
  9. Click on the Advanced button.
  10. Ensure the Override automatic cookie handling check box is cleared and the other options on the page are as shown in Figure 4 below.

  11. Click the Cancel or OK button as needed to save and close any of the above settings that may have changed.
  12. Close all open applications and restart the computer if the 'Play animations in webpages' option has been changed.
Editor note: Confirm the following steps are accurate and correct as needed prior to publishing.

Change the display language on the CA or DA server to one of the Accelerator UI supported languages (i.e. English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese) as noted in TECH38537:
  1. Log onto the CA or DA server using an account that has Local Administrator privileges, such as the Vault Service Account (VSA).
  2. Access Control Panel.
  3. Click on the Clock, Language, and Region link.
  4. Click on the Region and Language link.
  5. Click on the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  6. Click on the English language option.
  7. Click the Move Up button until the English language is the top language.
  8. Click the Apply button.
  9. Click the Close button.
  10. Close Control Panel.
  11. Launch IE to the EVBAAdmin site (i.e., https://localhost/EVBAAdmin) using the VSA credentials.
If none of the above actions resolve the issue, contact Enterprise Vault Support for assistance.
