“Error in Prerequisites” dialog with the message: Authentication failed for reporting user

 

Cause

There is a problem with the Reporting user account credentials you entered.

 

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Verify the Vault Service Account has a "Content Manager" role on the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Server.
  2. Ensure you are supplying the correct user name and password for the Reporting user account.
  3. Ensure you can ping the domain specified in the credentials.
  4. Rerun the Reporting Configuration utility with the “Configure Reporting and deploy or upgrade reports” option. When specifying the domain, try providing a fully qualified domain name (FQDN).

Steps to Rerun the Reporting Configuration utility :

  1. Programs | Enterprise Vault | Enterprise Vault Reports Configuration .
  2. On the Reporting Configuration utility dialog:
    1. Select Configure Reporting and deploy or upgrade reports .
    2. Enter the Domain , User name and Password for the Reporting user account.
    3. Re-enter the SQL Reporting Services Instance .
    4. Specify the Language in which to deploy the reports.
    5. Specify the name of the Directory database SQL Server .
  3. Click Configure to deploy the reports.

Issue/Introduction

The Reporting Configuration utility displays a “Validation Error”
