Caution: Manually disabling the FSA agent will have an adverse effect on FSA archiving if the FSA agent on the file server is being used to actively archive FSA targets.  The FSA agent should only be disabled under the advice of a Veritas support representative.

Disable the FSA agent:

• Set all FSA Agent services to disabled.
• Unload the mini filter driver associated with the FSA agent i.e.EvFilter
• Open an administrator command prompt
• Type in fltmc.exe and take note if EvFilter is listed
• Unload the filter driver using the following command 

fltmc unload EvFilter
 

Set the filter drivers to be disabled.  This will prevent the mini-filters from loading on the server:

• Open regedit
• Navigate to the registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EvFilter.
• Set the Start value to 4 (disabled).

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
