Error Message

The installation had determined that your computer has disabled automatic sharing of disk volumes.  This will prevent many of the Administration Console functions from operating correctly.  Would you like the installation to turn on Auto Sharing?

Cause

This alert will appear when AutoShareServer is set to '0' which will not allow the default/admin shares to be created on this server. 

HKeyLocal Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters    AutoShareServer = 0

Resolution

There are two possible solutions

  • Click Yes to the prompt.
  • This acknoledgement allows Enterprise Vault to create the default/admin shares it needs on the system to function correctly.


Or

  • Create DWORD registry AutoShareServer = 1
  • Located: HKeyLocal Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
