Error Message

There is no error for this condition. However, a review of the SharePoint Archiving report will show the item in the Custom List or Task as archived as follows:

Additionally, review of a Dtrace of the SharePoint Archiving Task will show that the item matched the Rule in the SharePoint Policy as follows:

{SHAREPOINTPOLICY.EN_US} Item: Custom EV List FW4 matched rule: PDF, rule type: ARCHIVE

Cause

This behavior is as designed as the settings in the File tab only apply to the following relevant libraries:

• Digital Asset Library
• Document Library
• Form Library
• Picture Library
• Slide Library 

The settings in the File tab settings do not apply to the following Content Sources :

• Announcements
• Blog
• Contacts
• Custom List
• Discussion Board
• Issue Tracking
• Links
• Tasks
• Wiki Page Library

The designed behavior is such that Announcements, Blogs, Contacts, Custom List, Discussion Board, Issue Tracking, Links, Tasks, and Wiki Page Libraries will be processed according to the Rule Type in the General tab regardless of attached file content when selected as a targeted content source. (i.e. If the Tasks content source is selected with a Rule Type of Archive the Task will be archived whether or not there is an attachment in the Task and in spite of any settings in the File tab. The archiving task is simply targeting a content source of Tasks)

The product is working as designed as the Sharepoint archiving task applies File attributes filters only to the following content source types:  

• Digital Asset Library
• Document Library
• Form Library
• Picture Library
• Slide Library

SharePoint Archiving Task is not honoring the File Size attribute for items in Custom Lists and Tasks. This occurs when Custom List and\or Tasks is selected in the Content tab of a SharePoint archiving rule and a File Size is specified on the File tab of that same rule. The SharePoint archiving task will perform the Rule specified action whether or not the item in the Custom List or Task meets the File Size requirement. For instance: If a Rule is configured to Archive PDF files within a Custom List that are greater than 500KB the SharePoint Archiving task will still archive PDF files with in the Custom List that are less than 500KB.
